Q. What is an Inlay?

Is a modern solution similar to filling. However, similar to crowns it is prepared at a dental laboratory. This process requires at least two visits.

Q. What is the treatment like?

During the first treatment the doctor will remove the old filling or decay and then takes an impression of the tooth. The patient receives a temporary filling, protecting the tooth, whilst the inlay is made. During the second visit the temporary filling is removed and the inlay is applied.

They are very durable, frequently more than standard fillings. They are appropriate for the biting surfaces of molars. They may be made from gold, porcelain or composite.
